Kerala known as god’s own country is now out to promote its lesser known destinations by its wake up to Malabar campaign which promotes Bekal and Waynad. Tamilnadu is not for behind. It is promoting its lesser known gems like Yelagiri Negamalai and Yercaud. Andhrapradesh had hiked its tourism marketing budget eight fold promoting lesser known places like Adi, horsely hills Baraini Island, Suvyalanca, Vikarabad, Nagarjuna Sagar and Badrachalam. Karnataka being one state may move away from the conventional source market with its glory advertisement campaigns trying every trick in the marketing book to domestic & foreign tourists. Through rediscovering Goa promoting festival sports tourism. with focus on activities like river rafting, kayaking nature trek and water falls. Haryana is promoting high way tourism marketing the concept that its high way has a motel every 30km while Goa in its effort to become a 365 day destination is marketing monsoon tourism. Chhattisgarh, the new kid in the tourism area has found its campaign on the table chhatisgarh full of surprises by promoting chitrakoot and bastai. Madhyapradesh which has heart of incredible India as its tagline inspite of ban on tiger tourism managed to increase its domestic and foreign tourist arrivals by 20%. Though states in India are marketing aggressively the unfortunate part of that tourists do not know how to go and buy a travel package for an emergency travel destination. The state tourism heads may well focus on this issue in right earnest.
