Biodiesel from chicken fat waste

The fat in chicken waste can be extracted by solvent extraction process that can eventually be converted into biodiesel by a chemical process called transesterification.This process involves treating oil extracted from chicken fat with methyl alcohol said DR John Abraham Asst professor college of veterinary and animal sciences wayanad .It would be possible to produce one litre of diesel from 16 dead chicken. Kerala generates 15 crore kg of broiler slaughter waste..CVAS itself is setting up a biodiesel plant in its campus to produce 50 litres of diesel per day at an estimated cost of  RS25 lakhs The quality of biodiesel is better than commercial one when one considers certain factors like smoke emission and fuel efficiency he said.
