‘The World In 2050- Striving For A More Just, Prosperous And Harmonious Global Community’

New Delhi (PIB-GR-TYP-BIN): Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy released book titled ‘The World in 2050- Striving for a More Just, Prosperous and Harmonious Global Community’ written by Mr. Harinder S. Kohli on June 8. While delivering Keynote address, Mr. Goyal said that the 10 Megatrends that this book have articulated are relevant and extremely important for all of us to reflect on. The Minister discussed various issues raised in the book at the event.

Talking about women empowerment, Mr. Piyush Goyal said that women have potential to determine destiny of India or possibly this world. “Personally, I have no doubt in my mind that the Women of this country have the ability to become agent of change”, he added.

Mr. Goyal discussed the emerging concern of demographics in the country and said that demographics, can be a boon and can equally be a disaster for the country, unless we channelize it in the right direction and strengthen the youth for tomorrow. True empowerment can only come through proper infrastructure whose major portion consists of electricity.

Mr. Goyal commented on burden of aging people by 2050 and said that to save India from such problems, we need to focus on skill development and entrepreneurship skills of today’s youth. And in some sense, a lot of efforts is going in this subject in India today.

The Minister talked about India’s leading role in world’s climatic concerns and global terrorism issues. He also read out excerpts from the book at the occasion.
