Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!
The world seems to be full of carnivores these days, snapping, snarling, vicious voracious meat eaters that would like for nothing more than to rip the red flesh from our bones and devour us in several rending swallows. There were at least seven reports of bear attacks in the United States over the last week, none resulting in fatalities, this time anyway, but some requiring hospitalization and bear spray utilization, and this writer can state that these incidents hit close to home as his daughter, while hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains, had her tent bitten by one of the ravenous beasts. Yup, the bear done bit her tent. There are photos to prove it. Wrong time for the National Park Service to remake Smoky the Bear‘s image we’d say.
A wolf attacked a touring bicyclist on the Alaska Highway recently, Syria’s lions are feeding indiscriminately on it’s innocent citizens, and India’s tigers are preying ruthlessly on the women of the nation. In the US several people who were merely doing the right thing have been chewed up and spit out and all indications are that the NSA is looking everywhere for appetizers and hor dourves.
So what to do in a world where the monstrous thrive? Don’t feed em, for one.
