On An Eagles Wings
An eagle was soaring with some urgency. A group of small birds beseiged it, diving in more acrobatically than the eagle could match though he flapped his wings and twisted in the air he couldn’t completely manage to avoid his assailants. What was the point of these small birds attacking the larger? And why? Doubtless they have thier beef, maybe the eagle tweeted his true disdain of the small common flock and the disagreement will be pursued but they seem both over, and undermatched. An eagle would make short work of any bird smaller than a raven should it somersault and rake its sharp talons. The sparrow, or starling would seem unequal to take on a large raptor. But the birds weren’t attacking the body of the eagle, they were doing as chickens are observed to do, they were destroying it’s plumage.
A naked bird is an ungainly thing, even an eagle. Nor can a bird without feathers fly. So little birds still have a chance. A bird is but a bird and bird is the word.
