Leaving Colorado

Sign says welcome, and it was a welcome change but on the way out today. Over a few passes, sleeping near snowline, through magnficent, towering rocky canyons then over into the desert country south of Grand Junction. Onto Hwy 141 south over the Umpunpagre plateau to follow the Dolores river through vertical walls of sheer, dark red sandstone. Turn off at EE 22 Road between mile 28 and 29 on Hwy 90 to climb a sandstone bench and sleep with wind gusty and wild in a space between juniper and mormon tea. Made Moab and on the way to Arches, then to return south to Needles district.
