Police Seize 1.83 Crore Drugs In Gujarat, 58 People Arrested

In two weeks, Gujarat Police has arrested 58 people under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and seized drugs in large quantities from them. According to the media report, during this period, about 1.83 crore drugs were recovered. The police have seized these drugs worth Rs 1.83 crore in the last fortnight as part of a special campaign to prevent narcotics in the state.

 

Gujarat’s Director General of Police (DGP) Ashish Bhatia said in a statement released on Tuesday night that under the guidance of the Gujarat CID, a special campaign is being run against the sale and peddling of narcotics from 5 September to 25 SeptembePolice said that most of the drugs have been recovered from Ahmedabad. In the latest incident, five people were caught with 990 GM drugs worth Rs 5 crore being smuggled into the police from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.

A committee has been formed in each district and city to eliminate the seized narcotics in the state. These committees will decide to destroy the seized narcotics.

 

Recently, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted raids against drug dealers at several places in neighboring state of Mumbai. The NCB’s Mumbai zone conducted the raids on a specific information basis. In the air cargo complex, 1,980 ecstasy pills hidden inside a German-made massage machine were seized. The 41-year-old Nigerian citizen arrested was involved in a large drug racket.
